| The Trust has been working in partnership with educational providers for the past 6 years since the ARC opened in 2001. The key partners are the Department of Adult Continuing Education (DACE), University of Wales, Swansea College, the WEA and the City & County of Swansea Lifelong Learning department. On average there are in excess of 250 students registered on courses at the ARC every term, many whom have not been involved in any form of education since leaving school. Lifelong Learning Officer, Debbie Jones says “I was on benefits as a single parent for years, and attended a variety of courses to show future potential employers that I was willing and capable of learning new skills, with the hope of gaining employment. With a mix of gaining more qualificationsand doing voluntary work, this set me in good stead to get the job that I now have. I have been with the Development Trust for almost 8 years now, and motivating others gives me a great sense of achievement. This award is for all the students and partners who have been involved at the ARC, as without them none of this would be possible.” |
